Three days and counting

Three days to go. My nerves are fairly steady. My leg is very itchy I have varicose eczema, which isn't so bad apart from when I can't stop itching, itching until the skin breaks and it bleeds. Oh the relief. So it's three days to my operation, three days to getting a new leg. Twenty years later and it's finally here. I actually looked at some dresses last week. Something I haven't done for so long. Having these hideous varicose veins has prevented me from wearing any thing that shows my legs. To afraid to show this ugliness off to the world. There isn't any thing in life that I'm actually really scared of, apart from heights, needles and men. The procedure involves an Epidural, a thin long needle inserted into the lower part pf my spine to freeze the area so the surgeon can cut into my veins... 'Ooooow' this sounds too messy for me, I hope the epidural works otherwise I'll have to be knocked out, this also means me waking up on Christmas day in hospital... so fingers crossed they get it right the first time. I went to give my pint of blood last week, I had a very interesting conversation with the nurse in charge, who said it was out of the question, regarding my day on 24th Dec, it's best that I keep my pint of blood as it will speed up the healing process, makes sense I guess. She had had her varicose veins done a few years ago, she explained how I would feel, that my leg would no doubt be black n blue with bruising. She also wondered why on earth I'd want this done on Christmas Eve of all days? I think I got a cancellation, I NEED this done so badly, my leg hurts constantly, I'm in pain, I can't wait any longer. She smiled and wished me the very best.. if anything I'm looking forward to resting for five days, but we'll see how long that lasts as I can't normally sit still.....unless of course I'm posing, that I can do till the cows come home. I can really get back to normality with my writing whilst I'm restricted to sitting down. Of course eating
and drinking copious amounts of alcohol will be my first priority Lol!

Being scared of men is both natural and necessary...

If you've been waiting so long, just get it done, it'll be the best present you could give yourself. Shold be fine, it's common today.

I'll pray for your quick recovery and your comfort!

regarding procedures, my philosophy is some things i just don't need to know, like what they will be doing to me. and pleeez, knock me out and wake me up when it's over. i certainly don't need to see anything either... good luck hunny, i'll be thinking of you!

Shadow ~ I had major surgery on my left foot 3 weeks after completing the 1996 London Marathon, I sat and watched them remove two toes, one being my big toe, they stitched them back on, straightened two others and took the nerves out of 3rd & 4th toe, never felt a thing but the noise of the drilling and the smell of burning bone will stay with me forever! I just hope they don't knock me out, I'll have to stay in hospital until Christmas day... er me thinks that iis not a good idea but thanks anyway :)

veiemoira ~ Thank you, I've been OK today but now the day that I've waited for for the past twenty years is finally here, I'm slightly, just ever so slightly nervous. Shall pack an over night bag as I was informed to do so should the epidural fail, but I'm looking optomimistic.. can't wait to get it over and done with..
I intend drinking my way through Christmas... :)

nitebyrd ~ I shall look forward to getting home again, safely as it's continued to snow since about 6pm and is settling.. which isn't the best weather conditions for an early start in the morning to Derby Hospital... fingers crossed. I can take some music to listen too if I so wish, so I thought I'd take Black eyed peas...'I got a feeling' :)or in my case I hope I DON'T have any feelings... thanks babe, hey you got your magazine yet, you're Erotica Magazine yet.. I think when you do eventually get it you should tell every one about it.....XX

Just telling it like it is said...

Merry Christmas Indigo..Wine is always the answer!!

Just telling it like it is ~ Yep too right. I will need some red wine by tomorrow, as for tonight I'm on codeine and paracetamol.. and my own comfortable bed, assuming I can get some quality sleep.

UBS ~ I haven't been home long, spent all day there, am glad I'm back though,, I've had my fill on needles for one day. Am going to have to get my face flannel out now, not allowed to shower or bathe!!My leg has three layers on bandage and is from top of my leg to my big toe. Going to be really smelly for christmas ;). I can't walk too well, have a walking stick which is as about as useful as a choalate teapot!!

UBS ~ Merry Christmas to you my dear friend, you know how to make me smile on this festive morning. Have been awake since 6a.m due to starvation and the great need to 'P' again. I was attatched to a saline drip all day yesterday, I did ask about what is was for, Oh so I'd look the part! No only joking..so I didn't dehydrate.. f in hurt puttin it in, my hands resembles culinders...full of holes! This walking stick's a god send, it's fully automatic, doesn't need batteries, unfortunately it doesn't vibrate, not that having an earth shattering orgasm is top of my list at the moment. Xo
